Nyonini Woodcraft

Out of this world!
Imagine a chair that looks like no other chair you`ve ever seen before, that seats like never before. A chair that makes a fashion statement and brings vibrant life to the dreariest room in your home. A chair dear reader, that would make you the envy of all your friends, and if you have no friends, would surely create them as word of `le chair` got around! I am talking about designer furniture. Let the great unwashed mass that is your common public go and buy the lumpy, dumpy chipboard creations sold in franchised furniture outlets across the land. For the discerning buyer though, who wants, nay desires, a lasting relationship with his living space and the items that furnish it, there is only one way to go. In a word; Nyonini Woodcraft, positively the last word in elegant, hand crafted furniture. Established almost 15 years ago, this creative resource has far outgrown its humble beginnings, thoroughly developing the distinctive style that has made it the leader in fine furniture in Swaziland today. Some of the more popular lines are also manufactured at St. Joseph`s Mission outside Manzini, further spreading the good word about this versatile range. Discussions are currently underway with a Mbabane based manufacturer (who prefers anonymity at this time) to add a two-seater couch to his portfolio. A feather in his cap, I dare say. One is advised to place orders well in advance, as there is always plenty of work for these craftsmen, and their work rate is not quite as fast as the `lumpy, dumpy` one. Resident designer, Mr. Martin is always on hand to advise, design and on rare occasions put hand to chisel and do the odd dovetail joint. Prices are a bit higher than elsewhere, but considering the high quality and unique look of each piece, are nothing to complain about. Part of the attraction of the different items, and these range from chairs and settees, to welsh-dressers and sideboards, is the use of different woods, saligna, pine, tambuti and so on, which impart a warm, natural feel. Upholstery, which is done on the premises, uses only mohair wool for the coverings in bright, dynamic colours. If this sounds like the kind of craftmanship that matches your décor and your lifestyle, then I strongly suggest you get your designer self over there, and start spending some loot.
